Madison Keys is out of the WTA 1000 Indian Wells Open

Madison Keys WTA 1000 Indian Wells

The 19th-seeded American Madison Keys ended her participation at the WTA 1000 Indian Wells Open in the second round after retiring from her match versus Sorana Cirstea (Romania). The Romanian tennis player won the first set by 6:1 and was leading by 1:0 in the second before Madison Keys end her match due to injury.

In the next round, Sorana Cirstea will face Bernarda Pera (USA), who defeated by 2-1 (2:6, 7:6, 7:6) the 12th-seeded Liudmila Samsonova (Russia) in a match that lasted more than 3 hours.

The 4th-seeded Ons Jabeur (Tunisia) advanced to the third round after a victory over Magdalena Frech (Poland) by 2-1 (4:6, 6:4, 6:1).

The 5th-seeded Caroline Garcia (France) also reached the third round of the tennis tournament after defeating Dalma Galfi (Hungary) by 2-1 (6:1, 6:7, 6:4) and in the next round will face the 2021 US Open runner-up Leylah Fernandez (Canada), who defeated Emma Navarro (USA) by 2-0 (6:2, 6:4).

Spanish tennis player Paula Badosa also advanced to the third round after winning the match versus her compatriot Nuria Parrizas-Diaz by 2-0 (6:2, 7:5).

The 8th-seeded Daria Kasatkina (Russia) defeated Tatjana Maria (Germany) by 2-0 (6:2, 6:1), while 10th-seeded Elena Rybakina (Kazakhstan) eliminated Sofia Kenin (USA) by 2-0 (7:6, 7:6) and Martina Trevisan (Italy) won her match versus Madison Brengle (USA) by 2-1 (5:7, 6:1, 6:2).

Bianca Vanessa Andreescu (Canada) also qualified for the third round after winning her match versus Peyton Stearns (USA) by 2-1 (4:6, 6:4, 6:3) and in the next round will face top-seeded Iga Swiatek (Poland), who defeated Claire Liu (USA) by 2-0 (6:0, 6:1).
