Laura Muir won her third European indoor 1,500m title. In a tactical run at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Istanbul, the silver medalist from Tokyo 2020 Olympics prevailed over her opponents with 4:03.40 min. The British athlete was moving at the end of the column, as she traditionally does, but in the last 250m, she attacked and stayed in the lead until the end.
Romanian athlete Claudia Mihaela Bobocea recorded a personal best of 4:03.76 min for the silver medal, and Sofia Ennaoui (Poland) took the bronze, also with a personal best of 4:04.06 min.
Laura Muir is a Scottish middle- and long-distance runner. She is the Tokyo 2020 Olympic silver medallist in the 1,500m, having previously finished seventh in the event at the Rio 2016 Olympics. Laura Muir won the bronze medal at the 2022 World Championships and has three other top-five positions in the 1,500m finals at the World Athletics Championships, finishing fifth in 2015, fourth in 2017 (where she was also sixth in the 5,000m), and fifth in 2019.
