Jasmine Paolini made her debut at the WTA Finals tournament with a victory. The Italian tennis star triumphed over Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina, winning 2-0 (7:6(5), 6:4) in approximately 1 hour and 44 minutes.
Both athletes are part of Group A in the competition held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In an earlier match, Aryna Sabalenka from Belarus triumphed over Qinwen Zheng of China with a score of 2-0 (6:4, 6:3).
During the first set, Jasmine Paolini managed to break serve in the sixth game; however, Elena Rybakina quickly responded with a break of her own. The set ultimately proceeded to a tiebreak, where the Italian established a strong early advantage and clinched it with a score of 7-5.
In the second set, Jasmine Paolini required just one break to achieve victory, which she accomplished in the seventh game.
Elena Rybakina is set to compete against Aryna Sabalenka in her upcoming match, while Jasmine Paolini will take on Olympic champion Qinwen Zheng from China.
