Jessica Pegula cruised over Diane Parry to qualify for the Round of 16 of the WTA 1000 China Open

The second-seeded Jessica Pegula (USA) cruised over Diane Parry (France) by 2-0 (6:1, 7:6) to qualify for the Round of 16 of the WTA 1000 China Open. The American tennis player needed a little more than an hour and a half to win the match.

Both players made 5 aces and 3 double faults, but Jessica Pegula was more successful in her first serve, which made the difference.

In the other matches from day, Naomi Osaka (Japan) made a comeback against Yulia Putintseva (Kazakhstan) to win by 2-1 (3:6, 6:4, 6:2), while Katie Volynets (USA) defeated Marta Kostyuk (Ukraine) by 2-0 (7:5, 6:3), Peyton Stearns (USA) eliminated Leylah Fernandez (Canada) after 2-0 (7:5, 6:2), and Elina Avanesyan (Armenia) won her match versus Caroline Dolehide (USA) by 2-1 (6:3, 5:7, 6:2).
