Barbora Krejcikova qualified for the second round of the WTA 250 Rothesay Classic Birmingham

Barbora Krejcikova WTA Birmingham

The second-seeded Barbora Krejcikova (Czech Republic) has overcome the first round of the WTA 250 Rothesay Classic Birmingham with a prize money of 267,082 USD. The Czech tennis player reached the second round after beating Daria Saville (Australia) by 2-0 (6:1, 7:6) in an hour and 35 minutes of play.

The next opponent of Barbora Krejcikova will be Harriet Dart (Great Britain), who defeated Moyuka Uchijima (Japan) by 2-0 (6:3, 6:3).

The fifth-seeded Elise Mertens (Belgium) eliminated Caroline Wozniacki (Denmark), who participated with the “wild card”, after 2-0 (6:4, 6:1). In the second round, she will face Caroline Dolehide (USA), who eliminated Karolina Pliskova (Czech Republic) after a turnover with 2-1 (2:6, 6:3, 7:6) in an hour and 58 minutes of play.

Another representative of the Czech Republic qualified for the second round – the eighth-seeded Marie Bouzkova, who prevailed over Heather Watson (Great Britain) also after a comeback with 2-1 (3:6, 6:4, 7:5).

Yulia Putintseva (Кazakhstan) and Anhelina Kalinina (Ukraine) secured a place in the second round after defeating Clara Burel by 2-0 (6:3, 6:4) and withdrawal of Katie Boulter (Great Britain) in the first set at 6:3, respectively.
